Crookes Councillor Anne Becomes Lord Mayor

Crooke's very own Councillor Anne Murphy has been sworn in as Sheffield's 121st Lord Mayor.

She gave an emotional speech in the Town Hall's Council Chamber as she spoke of growing up in Crookes and her battle to overcome a kidney transplant earlier this year in order to be fit enough to take office.

Fellow Crookes and Crosspool Councillor Craig Gamble Pugh paid tribute to Anne saying "She will be, without doubt, an unbeatable Lord Mayor. She is so hard working in Crookes and I know she will take that work ethic into this new role. We are hoping she will be able to come to many many events in the Crookes and Crosspool area during her mayoral year."
