Max Telfer is standing for election as a Labour councillor in Stannington Ward. Max sets out why he deserves your vote.
I moved to Sheffield in 1974 and worked for several years as a postman before studying Information Technology at Sheffield Polytechnic.
My degree gave me the opportunity to work for British Steel as a programmer in Rotherham and Sheffield, surviving outsourcing and returning several years later to the steel industry working for Outu Kumpu.
Redundancy saw me moving to one of the major banks as a Business Analyst.
I'm now retired and spend my time training for my sport: fencing, where I've been fortunate enough to represent Yorkshire, England and Great Britain. I also undertake voluntary work for Action for Stannington, trying to keep our community clean and litter-free.
My main political interests are around animal welfare and social equality for which I campaign locally and nationally.
