Josh Wilson is standing for election as Labour councillor in Stannington Ward at the May 2018 local elections. Josh sets out why he deserves your vote.
"I have lived in Sheffield all of my life, having attended school, college and university in the city. I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Politics and Sociology.
I live in Shiregreen, and as an active Labour Party member I am currently the Secretary for my local branch, as well as being Secretary for the Brightside and Hillsborough Constituency Labour Party.
Aside from my Labour Party activities, I also play an active role in the community as both a governor of Longley Sixth Form College and as the co-chair of Shiregreen Sports Badminton Club.
As someone who has both family and friends that live in Stannington and surrounding areas, I am aware of the issues that are important to local people, including public and school bus services; the importance of safety reassurance for residents in the Deer Park area following the devastating fire at Grenfell Tower in London; and traffic issues on particular roads (most notably Stannington Road and Tofts Lane).
In the run up to the local elections I also look forward to speaking to many other people who live in the ward to find out what is important to them. I relish the opportunity to become your Labour councillor."
The people of Stannington and the wider community came together to make the first food bank collection organised by Stannington Branch Labour Party a resounding success. A total of 22 crates of food were collected in one morning.
